How can Reiki help you?
In this busy modern day, life can become very stressful. The competing demands of work and family can take their toll. When other stressors are added to the mix such as ill health, bereavement, relationship difficulties or work issues it is easy to see how our ability to deal with daily life can be adversely affected and it all becomes a struggle. Reiki can help you to cope.

What is Reiki?
It is a form of natural healing which has probably existed for many hundreds of years and was introduced into the West from Japan in the early 20th century. Reiki helps to balance an individual’s energy, not just physically but emotionally, mentally and spiritually too; the result is a deep relaxation which helps to promote the body’s own natural ability to heal.
Reiki is a Japanese word which can be translated as meaning Universal Life Force. This universal energy flows through all things and is what connects us to all that is. It is the loving, healing energy which comes from the Universe, Light, Source, God, whichever term seems right for you.
The important thing for you to know is that Reiki is open to all. You don't have to have a particular affiliation to any belief system in order to benefit from it.

What does Reiki help with?
Reiki can be enjoyed at any time but is particularly helpful when life gets difficult, in times of emotional upheaval and stress, after a bereavement or when moving house, for example. Perhaps you are feeling stressed out because of difficulties at work or your close relationships are not going well. Maybe you are experiencing problems with elderly parents or children which are leaving you feeling wrung out, depleted and depressed. These are all times when a treatment can be beneficial. It is a safe, soothing treatment which can help you to feel calm and better able to cope.
You should always consult your Doctor if you have concerns about your health and Reiki is very beneficial when used alongside conventional treatment for illness. It is helpful in reducing some kinds of pain, lowering blood pressure, improving heart rate and also benefits sufferers of anxiety and depression. Clients often report that they enjoy better quality sleep after a session.

If you are anxious about a forthcoming event, an important interview or an operation, for example, Reiki is a great way to help yourself to remain calm and relaxed and therefore better able to manage the situation. One lady I know received Reiki whilst waiting to be taken down to theatre for a hip replacement operation. She described herself as being the most relaxed person on the ward in spite of the ordeal which lay ahead.

Who can benefit from Reiki?
Reiki is safe to use for everyone, old and young, from the pregnant mother to the frail elderly. There are no known contraindications.



So how does it work?
It would be truthful to say that I don't absolutely know HOW the Reiki energy works. I know it does work because of the feedback I get from clients (and from Bob too, of course) and from my own experience. I guess it is bit like using a television or the internet, I don't need to know how they work, I just know that they do! For those of you who are interested, click on the "How Reiki works" tab where I give my best understanding which I have gleaned from reading and talking to other practitioners. It may all seem to you to be a bit "off the wall" but as Einstein said "Not everything that counts can be counted and not everything that can be counted counts."
